QuickBooks PDF issue; How to fix it

Many of the times, an application makes computer users face problems while working with PDF files. There are numerous reasons behind such problems which may cause these PDF issues. QuickBooks, an accounting software package published by Intuit, is not an exceptional software program that is facing the same issue.

In QuickBooks 2010 and older versions, Intuit was printing directly through a PDF driver from a company called Amyuni. This driver was very sensitive to OS configuration issues that it often led to problems with 64-bit computer systems. Due to this sensitive nature of printer drivers in Microsoft Windows all drivers get affected by different factors outside the control of the software. To fix this PDF problem, QuickBooks now involves configuring the driver and the printer ports option in it to help its users in printing the PDF easily. Quickbooks Help Support Number

Sometimes, this problem is found when you have several PDF print driver programs installed on your computer. And the problem arises when another driver gets updated or freshly installed.  Sometimes, just removing and re-installing the custom print driver will resolve the problem.  Even sometimes, the elimination of other PDF drivers is compulsory in order to make the program work properly.

QuickBooks has identified four major causes of not being able to print or email PDF files:

  • The QuickBooks PDF Converter settings are not compatible with some settings on some 64-bit versions of Windows 7, Vista, or XP operating systems.
  • There is a conflict with the FaxTalk Communicator software.
  • The QuickBooks PDF Converter is selected as the default printer in Windows.
  • A damaged template needs to be replaced.

The best solution to fix this issue is using the QuickBooks PDF Diagnostic Tool.  It is appealing that Intuit has developed a tool just for troubleshooting and fixing PDF problems.

  • Ensure you have the most recent revision of your QuickBooks, as earlier revisions are more likely to have problems. For example, QuickBooks 2013 R6 has at least 7 fixes that openly relate to correcting PDF problems in various conditions.
  • Try the PDF Repair Utility from Intuit feature to fix the error, which works through a number of diverse issues with the various drivers and Windows settings. This works for most of the cases.
  • Make certain you have proper access permissions to the “temp” folder in Windows (details for how to do this are in my article on QuickBooks/Windows 8 PDF problems, which has a few additional tips).
  • If this is QuickBooks 2011 or older, check the outline below.
