Intuit is implementing a fresh update to address security susceptibility in QuickBooks desktop software. This update does not impact QuickBooks desktop version for Mac or QuickBooks Online. Below are mentioned some steps to install an update, which is designed to address the security vulnerability in QuickBooks accounting software.

This security update includes password controls to authenticate the person attempting to access the account is authorized.


In case you have the credit card data or “credit card protection” feature in your QuickBooks Company file, then you will be asked to set up a password if you do not already have one linked with QuickBooks. With this security patch, your sensitive data is safe and protected. Follow the steps on all computers with QuickBooks desktop versions installed as soon as possible.

  • Simply open QuickBooks desktop, tap Help > Update QuickBooks. In the Overview tab, tap on update now option.

  • Customers using QuickBooks desktop in multi-user mode have to make certain that they are using a supported version of QuickBooks desktop and have installed the security update.
